The ideal candidate is a DC Resident with 15 years of security management experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role, skilled in leading large, geographically dispersed teams, and strong knowledge of federal and corporate security regulations to ensure compliance and operational excellence
Executive Summary: Seeking a seasoned Director of Security to lead a large physical security contract supporting U.S. government clients across the Washington, DC area. This role requires 24/7 oversight of all contract operations, including personnel management, client relations, incident response, and billing. The Director will oversee a workforce of approximately 300 full-time security personnel, organized into teams embedded at client sites. Each team is led by an on-site Security Manager, who reports directly to the Director. The Director serves as the primary point of contact for all client relationships and is ultimately responsible for operational performance.
Position Duties:
- Lead all contract operations and manage performance across all assigned teams and locations.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise Security Managers and field personnel.
- Oversee the deployment and use of security technologies (e.g., surveillance, access control).
- Establish and enforce all security policies and procedures in alignment with legal and regulatory standards.
- Regularly review and update procedures to reflect operational needs and evolving threats.
- Lead incident response efforts, including investigations and coordination with law enforcement.
- Conduct routine security audits and assessments; implement corrective actions as needed.
- Serve as the lead liaison with all contract clients.
- Respond to concerns, customize support solutions, and maintain strong relationships through proactive communication.
- Manage department budgets, resource allocation, and cost-efficiency initiatives.
- Oversee semi-monthly billing processes and ensure accurate, timely invoicing and collections.
- Analyze billing trends, resolve discrepancies, and optimize financial performance
Experience required
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in security management, Criminal Justice, Business, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of security management experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale, geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound judgment, especially in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards across federal or corporate sectors
