Job Description

Overview Provides diagnostic imaging services according to accepted standards and protocols and assures patient safety during procedures. Responsibilities General Diagnostic Procedures: * Performs all mammography examinations following policies and procedures established by the department. * Prepares and positions patients for mammograms. * Provides care and communication to patients before, during and after the procedure. * Uses all equipment properly and in a manner that minimizes hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients. * Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of all patients and staff. * Explains procedures and responds to questions appropriately. * Ensures that all images are clear and of good diagnostic quality, adjusting equipment as necessary. * Documents patient history, including any relevant information which might affect the interpretation of the mammogram. * Maintain and cleans the mammography equipment with the appropriate solutions. * Communicates any pertinent information with radiologists and other healthcare professionals as necessary. * Maintains working knowledge of the PAC’s System. * Maintains a clean and orderly environment. Special Diagnostic Testing: * Demonstrates competency in performing all procedures and use of the equipment for Mammography, as appropriate and assigned. * Keeps dose as low as possible to achieve diagnostic exam. Administrative: * Uses computer to access reports, medical history, prior imaging, etc. * Follows protocols for releasing of images and obtaining prior imaging studies. * Assists with administrative responsibilities of the department to include scheduling appointments, answering the phone, etc. * Performs all quality controls procedures weekly in the absence of the QC technologist. * Maintains licensing and continuing education credits. * Able to teach/aid students and new staff. Qualifications * Graduate of a Radiology Technology training program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) * Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. * Certification in Mammography * 0-1 year of experience * Hospital experience preferred Required Licensure/Certifications REQUIRED LICENSE(S): • Radiographer NH (MIRT1060) OR Radiation Therapist NH (MIRT1057) OR Medical Imaging/Rad Ther - NH (MIRT1001)REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: • Radiologic Technologist - Mammography (RT - M) within 365 days * Area of Interest:Allied Health * Pay Range:$35.60/Hr. - $55.18/Hr. * FTE/Hours per pay period:.01 hrs/per week (per diem/temp) * Shift:Day * Job ID:35214 Dartmouth Health offers a total compensation package that includes a comprehensive selection of benefits.
