Job Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Philadelphia, PA (Onsite)

Industry: Healthcare / Nonprofit / Corporate Services

Pay: $26.00 – $30.00 / Hourly (Contract-to-Hire)

Job Description:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with monthly close activities, and supporting reporting requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record daily financial transactions and prepare journal entries.
  • Perform reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and resolve variances.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Review and process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activity.
  • Prepare supporting schedules for audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy, including accruals, prepaids, and adjusting entries.
  • Contribute to budget preparation and forecasting efforts.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
  • Partner with other departments to address discrepancies and deliver financial insights.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency in accounting operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including general ledger management, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; advanced functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with proven accuracy in work
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
