Job Description

Theology Teacher of Grades 4, 5, and 6 at Notre Dame Catholic School in New Hyde Park, New York Notre Dame Catholic School is seeking a motivated and creative full time theology teacher for the fourth, fifth and sixth grade for the 2025-2026 school year. The teacher is responsible to engage the students in the Catholic faith and to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. The teacher is to inspire academic excellence. The teacher is to assist the parents in the formation of their child's growth spiritually, academically, socially and emotionally. Responsibilities

• Evangelize the students and help them become saints.
• Prepare daily lessons and teach them effectively.
• Maintain a spirit of learning through classroom management.
• Evaluate students through various grading methods.
• Bring students to Mass weekly.
• Maintain active communication with parents of the students.
• Assist students who are struggling by setting goals with their parents.
• Participate in active ongoing training and development.
• Seek input and feedback from fellow teachers, administration and the parish priests.
• Follow the instructions of the pastor and school administration.

Requirements - The teacher must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship is made manifest through regular reception of the Sacraments, reading of Sacred Scripture, and a life of personal prayer.

• The teacher must be a faith-filled Catholic in good standing with the Church, with a deep knowledge of the Catholic Faith, capable of articulating the Gospel in a compelling manner through words and personal witness.
• The teacher must have a bachelor's degree. It is preferred that the teacher has a master's degree in education, theology, or catechetics or is enrolled and is actively taking classes to finish their master's degree.
• The teacher is to be Virtus certified.

Salary range is approximately between $40,000 - $55,000 as determined by the Diocese of Rockville Centre salary scale.
